Cahooty formed in November 2004 - the result of two duos coming together and playing "in cahoots"! With Stu and Chris bringing a distinctive Blues and Cajun feel to Jacqui and Tony's Bluegrass and Country sound an acoustic soup emerged with its own unique flavour.

Cahooty's set list includes old time standards, original material and re-interpretations of classics from the 50's & 60's as well some unlikely acoustic versions of more contemporary hits all presented with a lively dose of energy and enthusiasm.

CHRIS
Chris, guitar and b.vocals, was busy on the East Anglian music scene for a long time before moving to Cornwall. Past bands included Norwich post-punk feminists, The Vital Disorders, militarist oddities The Kamikaze Sex Pilots, Norfolk Congolese rumba pioneers, The Ouagadougou Township Rockers and a host of others. Two of the longest associations were with Norfolk blues legend Albert Cooper, who stood in front of Chris's bass for many years, and the infamous Cleaving Heevages, who discovered that he could play guitar as well as bass, and forced him to do so. He has also worked with various touring musicians, including Lowell Fulsom, Guitar Shorty, Rocking Sidney, and G*** G******.

TONY
Tony on double bass and vocals has played behind a wide range of unlikely London-based musicans including Stu P D'idiot, Rosalie Stileto de Boot and Hermine as well as Peking Opera and Orchestra Ra Ra - an Italian big band featuring wall of sound accordians! The regular work was with 'Cut Loose' an agitprop rockabilly outfit followed by Alt Country trailblazers 'The Rivals' - featuring the virtuousity of pedal steel supremo BJ Cole. Out of this sprung the much aclaimed acoustic trio Devils in Disguise followed by Idlewild ('we had the name before they did!') and brief spells with Big Steve's A La Tex and Louisiana Zydeco master-fiddler Piere Lerue. Hear some of Tony's own songs in our picture Jukebox.

STU
Stu on blues and chromatic harmonicas and vocals, a stalwart of the Cornish music scene and international recording artiste, played with Cowpat Kickers, Mountain Ash, Alun Ashworth-Jones (folk veteran ), James Langston (Atlantic Blues Band ), jazz 'n' samba with Pete Turner's Into The Red, Pete Berryman (sideman in duo, trio and Mo Band ), P.D. Williams and J.T Band. Guested with Diz Disley, Wizz Jones, Martin Harley, and Fylde contemporary blues band 'Rude Blues' with Alabama Ted. Also presently fronting and running his own band Shiny Blue Crow featuring Chris Hawkins (duo and trio) and Tony Minnion (trio). More info and hear Stu's songs on the myspace site: www.myspace.com/shinybluecrow.

Jacqui
Jacqui on vocals and rhythm guitar. Jacqui's musical history has included periods with post-punk bands Delta 5 and the Mekons before joining and then fronting, the increasingly alt.country version of Cut Loose in London in the early to mid 80’s. After a brief period singing with 11-piece UK ska band The Deltones, she left to form The Rivals described by City Limits as "the most exciting country band to hit London”. Other bands include Devils in Disguise ("the best British acoustic trio in years” Music Week), The Renees, Idlewild, Folk City Sisters and The Callis Family - which still continues today playing a mix of bluegrass, old-time, country and her own songs. Hear some of Jacqui's own songs in our picture jukebox. Jacqui has also self-released a solo album entitled Soul Vagabond.
